What is the Muscle FIT assessment?
This assessment is comprised of muscle performance and movement analysis. Muscle performance analysis is an evaluation and screening of the muscular system. Strength, endurance, and flexibility tests are the primary tests for evaluating the muscular system. Movement analysis is an evaluation of muscle imbalance, weakness, instability, and tightness.

Abdominal Endurance

How does FIT evaluate the muscular system?
Bench press and leg press tests measure upper and lower body strength. Three core endurance tests, 60° abdominal, back extension and side plank, measure core stability. Low back flexion test measures spinal mobility and hip and hamstring flexibility. A postural screening is also performed. Finally the Texas Power Test using a cycle ergometer measures peak muscular power. View a Sample Profile.

Squat

What tests are used to conduct the movement analysis?
The parallel squat is a modified squat with a dowel rod held above the head. The hurdle step involves multiple half-steps over a knee-high hurdle. During the in-line lunge, you lower your body from an upright to crouched position with your feet in a straight line. In the torso rotation, you will sit cross-legged and twist your upper body to each side with a dowel rod resting on your upper arms. In the active straight-leg raise, you will lie face-up and raise your legs, one at a time, as far as possible without bending your knee. Individuals with certain musculoskeletal injuries may not be able to participate in one or more of these exercises.

In-Line Lunge

Why is muscular fitness important?
Adequate muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility help prevent musculoskeletal injury and osteoporosis and make many every day and leisure time activities easier and more enjoyable. In addition, maintaining muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility are important for healthy aging. Muscular power is important for activities and sports in which speed and power are needed. Why is the Muscle FIT assessment important?
Muscle FIT assesses your muscular strengths and weaknesses - areas where muscular performance and function are good or where they need improvement - this in turn allows for a customized exercise perscription to be created. Whether you are bench-marking a diet and exercise routine or you are beginning to train for a your first event - the muscle FIT assessment is appropriate for you.
