The University of Texas at Austin apprentice teachers should go to the PISD Central Administration Office and present their driver's license, social security card, and a copy of their transcript. PISD will give the student a packet that includes the application and handbook. The apprentice teachers will fill out the application on site and will not need to attend an orientation. The apprentice teachers will not activate their pin number to ensure that they will not start getting calls to substitute for anyone other than their cooperating teacher.

In order to substitute for the cooperating teacher, the principal, cooperating teacher, coordinator, and apprentice teacher will need to agree that the student is ready.
