Welcome to Field Experiences

Field experiences at the University of Texas at Austin are an integral component of our teacher preparation programs, built on strong collaboration between school districts and colleges of The University. The Field Experiences Office handles the application process to enter the professional courses for students seeking teacher certification. The office coordinates preservice field placements throughout the Professional Development Sequence (PDS).

Professional Development Sequence (PDS) Application

Students apply for the Professional Development Sequence in the long semester before entering the PDS. The application deadlines are October 1st for those entering the spring semester and March 1st for those entering in the fall semester. Click here to go to the PDS Application. (This PDS application is a separate application from the application for admission to The University of Texas at Austin).

The Professional Development Sequence (PDS)

Following the formal PDS application process, students admitted to the PDS go through a sequence of field experiences and professional development courses leading to teacher certification. The length of the PDS varies by certification program.
