Graduate Program Application Procedures

Prospective students are encouraged to contact the Graduate Coordinator in Kinesiology & Health Education before applying to get the most up-to-date application materials and instructions (see below for contact information).

The following must be completed or submitted to the Graduate and International Admissions Center along with the application:

  1. Complete the electronic application for GIAC.
    NOTES: the major code for a graduate degree in Health Education is 632400.  The major code for a graduate degree in Kinesiology is 632500.
    When you specify the program that you are interested in, be as specific as possible. For example, specify “Kinesiology and Health Education” as the Department of interest and also note the specific sub-area that you are interested in:  “Exercise Physiology,” “Health Education,” “Exercise and Sport Psychology,” “Sport Management,” or “Movement Science.”
  2. Send your official GRE scores. (The UT school code to use with the GRE is 6882.)
  3. Send official transcripts from all colleges and universities.
  4. Send your application fee.
  5. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: In addition to the above, send your official TOEFL scores, and your statement of financial responsibility to GIAC.

  1. Complete the “Declaration of Intent Form” and “TA Application” (if you wish to apply for a TA position).
    Mail it to the department address above, along with the following materials:
  2. Send three letters of reference to the KHE Department using the 'Request for Reference' form downloaded from the GIAC website. These letters may be mailed separately to our department by the recommender, or mailed along with your application packet signed by the recommender on the envelope seal.
  3. Send your Statement of Purpose to the KHE Department using the 'Statement of Purpose' form downloaded from the GIAC website. Your statement should be approximately one to two pages long (500 words) explaining why you select the KHE Department at UT for your graduate studies, what are your particular academic and professional goals, and what is your preferred area of interest.
  4. Send a copy of your resume and/or your curriculum vitae to the KHE Department.
  5. We recommend that you also send unofficial copies of your transcripts and GRE scores to the KHE Department. However, the original (official) copies will be forwarded to us eventually by GIAC.
